On the Horizon

So I get my blog back up and running and then promptly become ill with the head cold/sinus infection of absolute doom. Then I spend another two weeks after that working to recover financially from the whole… no sick days, thing.

And now I’m back! So… what’s up on the Horizon in the Mayoverse?

Firstly I have a Tumblr now. Mostly I got it so I could follow some great folks over there, like “The Avengers Shouldn’t Text” and Zinnia Jones. I’ll be reblogging and microblogging over there, things like “Oh look at this article I found” and stuff like that. If I have more to say about it than that, it will still be here. Tumbler will be feeding to my Twitter as well, so if you’re already following me there, there’s no real need to follow Tumbler as well.

Secondly, I’m looking forward to an October First Re-Opening for MayoWare, for the Holiday Season. I’m planning to stay open October-November, and then close again for the month of December to ensure all orders arrive in time for the Holidays. I’ll be releasing at least two new designs I have in my head. A Holly Berry Stud drop using red Swavorski Pearls, and a counterpoint to my current tiara “O Tannenbaum” which is red with silver wire and green crystal… which I still need to name. I’ll be tossing up a few more red and greens, including at least one full ear cuff, and then if I have time some more non-holiday themed ones that would still make great gifts, and maybe a holiday headband or two to kickstart the BJD Botique section of the shop. I have the materials I just really need to get on it.

And Thirdly, you may have been following our tabletop escapades being Liveblogged. We will no longer be liveblogging Strife’s game “Will To Power” as it’s slated to be released as the second project from Seref Games, which we’re forming to write publish and sell RPGs based on Strife’s homebrew system. We’ll be starting with a Fantasy game “Pyron” which I’m very excited about, but also won’t be liveblogging, because reasons.

Ow… My Finger…

My right hand ring finger had an unfortunate run in with the front door yesterday. I was gardening and my hand was covered in mud so at first I didn’t notice the bleeding, but then it swole. I went to the urgent care center, and they did x-rays, and my distal phalanx, it is broke. Also I have a hematoma since it only bled a little on the finger side, and a bunch on the nail side, and mu finger tip turned all purple. They did a splint, and told me to see an orthopedist to see how long to keep it on.

The bad news is I’m an artist with a severe injury to my drawing hand, which bites.

The good news is they gave me the Lortabs.

Since there was a cut it’s technically an ‘open fracture’ so they gamme antibiotics too. I saw the orthopedist today and he said the splint stays on for 2 weeks, then come back. But also he cut the splint down some so it just splints the distal phalanx to the medial, and allows the finger to bend where it meets the hand… so I can hold a Wiimote, and I’ll be able to mouse at work, without the splint on my palm getting in the way.

I go back to work tomorow, if I can hack it without the Lortabs.

Mmmmmmm…. Lortabs.

Just for the Record…

I may have Tonsilitis… but no matter how sick I may get…

I will not watch soap operas.

I will watch childrens morning TV programing. I will watch Comedy Central. I will watch Reruns. I will Watch DVDs. I will read a book.

I will NOT watch the 700 Club.

I will watch Animal Planet. I will watch Discovery Channel or TLC. I will watch Nick-a-Fricking-lodian. (Well I would if I got it.)

I will not watch Dr. Phill.

I will watch my fricking walls before I watch this shit. Thank you.

In other news I’ve finally got my antibiotic, and I’ve been told I should feel some relief from it sometime in the next 48 hours.

I feel of Crap…

Last night was crap. First I was hot, then cold, then hot, then cold… all night, and it hurt to swallow.

I looked in my throat this morning with a mirror and a flashlight. My left tonsil is all bleedy and has tonsil bits (or Tonsilloliths as I’m told the technical term is,) stuck in it, that I can’t seem to dislodge with gargling or swallowing hard. So I made an appointment for the health center. (9:15 so I could finish watching the TV program I’d been watching.)

I’m thinking it was rather a waste of my time and the Doctors. She wasn’t very nice. Looked at my throat and told me my tonsils were both huge. I told her they were always huge, and she concluded I had “Chronical Inflamation of the Tonsils.” I told her no, they’re not always inflamed. They’re too big. They grew that way. When they’re inflamed, they’re even bigger. Like the left one. Note how it’s bigger than the right one.

She didn’t care to listen and prescribed me some antibiotics: “Just in case,” though the strep culture came back negative.

It seems to me this is not the way to treat something like this. I told her I was concerned about taking an antibiotic I might not need, and she got snippy and told me to go see my primary care doctor then. Now perhaps I did something wrong, questioning the doctor, but I’ve spent ALOT of time in doctors offices in my lifetime, and I have always felt it was important that I understand precicely why they do what they do to me. I don’t take a pill or allow them to put a needle in me, or my IV without I know precicely what they’re putting in me and why. I’m big on patient responsibility. It’s a patients job to know what’s been done to them in the past, and remember what works and what doesn’t and what’s been tried before and what works.

Perhaps the health center is used to students who just want a quick fix, a pill to make it all better and don’t question what’s going on, but they really should be willing to explain their desicions to the patient, rather than expect them to consume whatever pills prescribed without question.

I feel of crap.

I’m debating whether to fill the antibiotic prescription or try to make an apointment with my home doctor and go see her instead.

For now tho… I think I’ll take a nap.

Sick as a Dog am I, Am I, oh Sick as a Dog am I.

I’m being very unproductive at work today… I’m moving slowly, zoning out occasionaly, and I just spent forever trying to make poptarts. The toaster has a “Poptarts” setting. But it ate my poptarts anyhow. My boss says the toaster has a habit of doing that. It still has part of my poptart that it won’t give back, so they put in a call to office services.

Today is not my day.

Ah well… I have an add to work on. *Snuggles it.* So it’s not all bad. *Toddles off to work on the add.*
